What is Habitat for Humanity ReStore?

Habitat ReStores serve as both donation centers and retail stores selling home improvement and decor items. With daily inventory changes, you can find diverse, high-quality merchandise at a fraction of the retail price.

The best part?

Omaha’s Habitat ReStore outlets donate 100% of net proceeds to Habitat for Humanity of Omaha to build a stronger community.

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a safe place to live…

Omaha’s first ReStore opened in 2000. Twelve years later, Habitat opened a second location in West Omaha.
In the almost 25 years since, millions of pounds of materials have been saved from landfills through the resale of donated household items and building materials.

Each year, the proceeds from the items purchased at the ReStores help build nearly 100 homes. Your shopping trip means Habitat Omaha’s mission to build and repair homes can continue.   Visit us today to help make an impact!

Why shop at the Omaha ReStore?

When you visit one of our Omaha ReStore locations, you will find unique furniture and home improvement items at a reasonable price.
Many people use the ReStores to find items that they can’t find at other stores. Every item we rehome, from vintage pieces to DIY project materials, keeps waste out of landfills and supports Habitat Omaha’s Homeownership Program.

How does the Omaha ReStore price items?

We understand that price can be an important factor when you shop at either of our Omaha ReStores, which is why typically, our pricing is 40%-70% lower than the current retail market for donated items. As the retail market prices shift, our pricing will reflect those current retail trends.

How we determine price:

  • Assess the condition of the item(s) we receive to ensure it meets the guidelines of items that go onto our floor.
  • Research & appraise the item(s) and/or what an equivalent item(s) sells for at other retailers.
  • Determine pricing based on initial assessment, volume and demand while factoring the reduced cost.If you have any questions about our pricing, please talk to one of our Habitat Omaha ReStore staff.

Note: Items brought into the ReStore Market by a Market Vendor are priced by that Market Vendor, who receive the majority of the profit with a portion donated to Habitat.

What is the ReStore Market?

The ReStore Market is a place where you can find upcycled, handmade décor, art, and goods from local vendors. Sometimes, there may be items in the Market section of the store that are unique, collectible and occasionally, higher priced than other items in the store. Learn more about the Market.

How often do Omaha’s Habitat ReStore outlets get new merchandise?

Donations come in daily, which means both Habitat ReStore locations consistently have new merchandise for sale. Some items, such as paint and flooring, are always in stock.

Are all items used/donated?

No, not everything in the ReStores are donations or used. In addition to both used and new donations from commercial and private donors, we also purchase brand-new items like other retail stores. And most items in the ReStore Market are brought in and curated by the Market Vendors.

Sustainability impact

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do. We believe that pre-loved furniture should be the first consideration before new. Over 12 million tons of used furniture get landfilled each year. We’re on a mission to change that by making furniture circular.

Traditionally, the use of furniture is linear. We buy it, we live with it-and then we dispose of it. Instead of ending the lifecycle at one use, we’ve created a platform where furniture can continue to stay in circulation for years to come.
