5  Budget-Friendly Home DIY Weekend Projects

Whether you are trying to start & finish a home project in one weekend or making those finishing touches to a long-winded remodel, we hope these ideas inspire you to get something done this weekend!

Here are a few simple projects that will make a big impact in any room of your home! Try one out & share you process with us @omahahabitatrestore!

1. Shiplap Shower

Don’t we all hate the mold & water build up that happens right on the edge of our drywall & shower surround? Well, here’s a beautiful & simple solution!

Add rows of shiplap around the top of your shower! Deck boards are prepared to be water resistant & will hold up much better than drywall. Then you just need to fill the nail holes with some wood filler, finish by sealing the boards with an exterior paint & BOOM! Problem solved & your bathroom has been given a beautiful refresh!

2.  Faux Brick Wall

Adding a faux brick accent wall can be as simple as nailing in a small accent above your kitchen sink or as large as totally making over a wall in your living room!

Faux brick panels are a great way to add texture & character to your home without breaking the bank! Add this farmhouse touch anywhere in your home & we’re sure you won’t regret it.

3. Jolie Paint Upcycle

If you’re not ready to take on a whole wall, maybe you can start with a different accent project. Upcycling your furniture is the perfect way to refresh your space without spending hundreds on a new piece. If you have an old dresser you have been waiting to makeover or if you are looking for a whole new project, the ReStore’s got you covered!

You can purchase all of the Jolie Paint supplies you need, available in all the colors & finishes to match or accent your home!

4. Window Flower Boxes

As the weather warms up, don’t forget to dress up the outside of your home as well! These unique ‘window boxes’ can even be put together on a rainy day & hung when you have all the sun & new florals you need!

This is a creative way to bring new life to some antique windows & add some extra beauty to your deck, porch, or herbs for your kitchen!

5. Reclaimed Wood Wall

We are not tired of this classic farmhouse trend! If you are not a fan of a white shiplap or brick accent, reclaimed wood is another great alternative! A reclaimed wood wall adds the perfect statement to any room & brings some rustic character to your space as well.

If you are looking for wood with some history, check out our ReStore Reclaimed Wood. Sold in pre-packaged bundles, this wood has been milled & prepared right here in Omaha. It was salvaged board by board from a local, 100 year old home. Each bundle has amazing variety & will be a great conversation piece for guests.
