FAQs

Is Habitat ReStore open to the public?

Yes, everyone is welcome to shop, donate or volunteer at Omaha’s Habitat ReStore locations.

Why shop at the Omaha ReStore?

When you visit one of our Omaha ReStore locations, you will find unique furniture and home improvement items at a reasonable price.

Many people use the ReStores to find items that they can’t find at other stores. From vintage pieces, items to upcycle/repurpose to DIY projects, home and commercial renovations. Every item that we can rehome, is an item kept out of landfills.

Every dollar earned after operational expenses goes directly into our Affordable Homeownership Program.

What is the Omaha ReStore’s Goal?

Our goal is simple. We aim to earn revenue for Habitat for Humanity of Omaha so we can in turn help more working families in need of affordable housing in our local community. Every dollar earned after operational expenses goes directly into our Affordable Homeownership Program.

How does the Omaha ReStore price items?

We understand that price can be an important factor when you shop at either of our Omaha ReStores, which is why typically, our pricing is 40%-70% lower than the current retail market for donated items. As the retail market prices shift, our pricing will reflect those current retail trends.

How we determine price:

  • Assess the condition of the item(s) we receive to ensure it meets the guidelines of items that go onto our floor.
  • Research & appraise the item(s) and/or what an equivalent item(s) sells for at other retailers.
  • Determine pricing based on initial assessment, volume and demand while factoring the reduced cost.

If you have any questions about our pricing, please talk to one of our Habitat Omaha ReStore staff.

Items brought into the ReStore Market by a Market Vendor are priced by that Market Vendor, who receive the majority of the profit with a portion donated to Habitat.

How often do Omaha’s Habitat ReStore outlets get new merchandise?

Donations come in on a daily basis, meaning both Habitat ReStore locations consistently have new merchandise for sale. Some items, such as paint and flooring, are always in stock.

Are All Items Donations and/or Used?

No, not everything in the ReStores are donations or used. In addition to both used and new donations from commercial and private donors, we also purchase brand-new items like other retail stores. Most items in the ReStore Market are brought in and curated by the Market Vendors.

What is the ReStore Market?

Most items in the Market are curated, made and/or refurbished by our Market Vendors. Other items that you can find in the Market, are unique, collectable and sometimes higher priced items. While items in the Market may not fit everyone’s budget, there are similar items at varying price points throughout the store.
